The present invention relates to a timepiece having a tourbillon mechanism.
A vortex mechanism is a device for averaging the gait of the positions of the balance of a timepiece. EP 1574 916 discloses a triaxial vortex comprising a cage containing the balance and the escapement in rotation along an axis, the cage being mounted in a second cage so as to be rotatable about another axis, the second cage being in turn rotatably mounted in a third cage rotating about a fixed axis relative to the timepiece, the three axes being perpendicular to one another. The triaxial vortex is driven by a drive wheel mounted on the turntable of the timepiece, which drives a pinion integral with the third cage, and rotates said cage about its axis thereby rotating a pinion meshing with a fixed crown on the turntable of the timepiece, which causes the cage to rotate about its axis, the second cage rotating the first cage around its axis via a crown and the second pinion secured to the third cage, and thus transmit the energy from the drive wheel to the assembly formed by the exhaust pinion, the escape wheel and the balance placed in the first cage.
The object of the present invention is to provide a timepiece comprising a tri-axial vortex.
According to the invention, a tri-axial tourbillon timepiece comprises a first vortex cage containing an escapement / sprung balance-spring, the first cage being rotated about a first normal axis relative to a plane defined by the spiral balance. The triaxial tourbillon timepiece has a second vortex cage which supports the first cage and is rotatably mounted about a second normal axis with respect to said first axis, the second axis extending radially from a first axis. central part of a dial space of the timepiece. The dial space extends to the periphery of an opening in a case of the timepiece. In one embodiment, the arm carries a time-display mechanism clockwise on a dial whose diameter is smaller than the radius of the dial space, this dial with a time display and the assembly formed by the first cage and the second cage being disposed on either side of the third axis and rotating together around the third axis.
According to this embodiment, two additional radial arms extend from the third axis, forming a cross with said radial arm and the second axis, the additional arms carrying objects which rotate around the third axis and around of the dial space.
In another embodiment, the housing comprises a band of middle or a piece reported that comes above and around the dial space, the middle band or the postponed part comprising at least one side window allowing look at the whirlpool and other internal mechanisms by a side view of the outside of the case.

As illustrated in FIGS. 1 and 2, a first cage 1 of the vortex containing an escapement / sprung balance 3, is rotatably mounted about a first normal axis 2 relative to a plane defined by the sprung balance 3. A second cage 4 of the vortex supports the first cage 1 and is rotated about a second normal axis 5 with respect to said first axis 2.
In the example illustrated in FIG. 3, the vortex is arranged in a device comprising a central axis 9 from which radially extend in four planes four arms in four directions, each arm being perpendicular to the adjacent arm. An arm, opposite to that carrying the vortex mechanism, carries a time clockwise display mechanism 10 on a dial, this hourly display dial and the assembly formed by the first cage 1 and the second cage 4 being arranged on both sides. other of the third central axis 9 and rotating together about the third axis 9. The second axis 5 extends radially from a central portion of a dial space 6 of the timepiece, the dial space 6 extending to the periphery of an opening 7 in a case 8 of the timepiece.
The second axis 5 is rotatably mounted about the third axis 9 normal to the plane of the dial space 6 and disposed in its central portion so that during a rotation about the third axis 9, the assembly formed by the first cage 1 and the second cage 4 rotates around the third axis 9 and around the dial space 6.
The other two decorative elements are carried by two additional radial arms extending from the third axis 9, forming a cross with said radial arm and the second axis 5, the additional arms carrying a land and a moon that rotate around of the third axis 9 and around the dial space 6.

1. Tri-axial tourbillon timepiece comprising:- A first vortex cage containing an escapement / sprung balance, the first cage being rotatably mounted about a first axis normal to a plane defined by the sprung balance; and- A second vortex cage which supports the first cage and which is rotatably mounted about a second axis normal to said first axis;said second axis extending radially from a central portion of a dial space of the timepiece, the dial space extending to the periphery of an opening in a housing of the workpiece; watchmakingcharacterized in that said second axis is rotatably mounted about a third axis normal to the plane of the dial space and disposed in its central portion so that during a rotation about the third axis, the assembly formed by the first cage and the second cage rotates around the third axis and around the dial space.
